drivers ed

hooray for me, i've joined the rest of the world in that, i am now driving.

yippy doo dah.

i am currently enrolled in "john driving school."

*note how it is "john driving school" not "john's driving school."

that should tell you about the language "issue."

i began about 3 weeks ago, along with rachel kim and eve foster. we have stayed together in this ordeal

the instructor's name is john, and i'm not quite sure where he is from, but i'm sure he comes from the continent of asia. he is very nice and quiet-like, and english "very goodly."

there are 32 kids enrolled in the class, of which almost all of them are from "public school"...dun, dun, dun!!!
for the most part, the "government kids" are very nice.
only one or two, if left alone with, would i fear for my life.
the "couple" that sits infront of us eerily resembles another "freshman couple" that annoyed the entire school last year.
i'm not naming names, but i'm sure you can guess.
if you know who i'm talking about, i'm telling you that, from behind, the look EXACTLY the same...same hair, clothing, EVERYTHING.
it has basically been a barrage of badly made education films from 1998 and poorly punctuated exams.
it hasn't been all too bad though.
i'll try to keep you posted.
just two more weeks, just two more weeks, just two more weeks, just two more weeks, just two more weeks....................................

george the goldfish on my mind...

well in case you didn't hear the news, i'll tell you: i got a goldfish and i named 'him' GEORGE. i hadn't had a goldfish for awhile, then during spring break i thought "i want a goldfish" so i found my tank and got one...i had goldfish in 4th/5th grade, and didn't after that, until now.

this time, i actually did some 'reasearch" and looked into what i was supposed to do (after i got the fish of course)... and i discovered some very important things that i didn't know when i was younger...

first, if your fish's gills are moving very rapidly, it means that they are struggling for oxygen. when i was younger, i actually thought it meant that they were healthy and breather well...maybe that's why they died...oops...

second, your goldfish shouldn't be coming to the surface for oxygen, that means that they're suffocating...
mine used to do that all the time.

third, you're supposed to run the "pump" in the water for 24-48 hrs and put special solutions in...
i never did that before...

you're supposed to change the water every month and then repeat the third step again...
never did that...

(maybe that's why Tubby and Chubby [they were 'brothers' haha], Jaws, Lawrence, and several other fish all died within a year of me having them...]

but i took extra caution this time and i'm sure that george will have a long and great life...

i think...

the proof that goodness and humanity exists

Today our family welcomed it's newest (and now favorite) member: A Jack La Lanne Juicer. It's quite a story. (isn't everything?)

My mother and I dropped by one of our "wise in years" friends' apartment to drop her off some take-out Teriyaki from one our favorite restaurants that we had just visited (that's another story). *To clarify, My mother had called her and asked her if she wanted take-out and she replied "Oh YES!"*

Anyway, so we bring her the teriyaki and she is very happy. We then went inside to "conversate" for about an hour.

After an hour of chatting, my mother and I were about ready to leave, when I noticed that she had this Jack La Lanne Juicer near her front door.

I stopped and admired it. That's all I did. I made a gesture to my mom and said, in awe, "She has a Jack La Lanne Juicer mom!" Seriously, that's all I said...

Our dear friend hears this and says, "Oh, do you want it? I barely use it, and I have the instruction manual right over here..." and she proceeds to get the tools and pamphlets.

I swear to you, all I did was look at it and she gave it to me! I felt a little guilty at first, but she assured me that she was going to give it away anyway!

The juicer is just like new! I couldn't tell she'd used it!

Kindness still exists in this world.

So I took it to the car, after having showered her with "THANK YOU'S" and I looked up at the sky and said:

"You are a kind and merciful God!"

don't judge me!

...doesn't fall far from the tree

out of sheer randomness, i'm posting one of my favorite photos. it's an apple that we got from an orchard out in yakima--where the apples actually have leaves still attached to them! i took it [using my Nikon D40] and i think it has a unique, stylish look.

my first ten minutes

[***the following took place august 19, 2008***]

yesterday i went to wal-mart to get a few things before school starts.

it thoroughly depressed me...

so we proceed to walk in the front door.

we come across 2 "christian" gospel music people, trying to sell their cd. they were in braids.
we walk in the door.

already, i feel like i will soon need a therapist.

my mom had to return something.

we go to the "customer service counter."

we get in line.

we are behind 2 pretty "white-trashy" looking people.
the man is at least 400 pounds. he is in a tanktop, and has hair all over him. his wife looks about 10 years younger than him. he has three kids all under the age of four; each of a different race. one is black, one is white, and a baby.

how could that be? [you can let me know...]
(i would say it, but it would ruin my reputation as a "wholesome" blogger.)

so we are behind him, and he is trying to get the 2 toddlers to sit down in the cart. here's how he did it.

in a pretty loud voice.

"sit down please... sit down...(one of the kids wants a hug, he hugs him) thank you, now sit down. sit down... i need you to sit down, SIT DOWN!! sit down... i need you to sit down."

his much younger wife was trying to cash a social security check...

finally, my mom is able to return her purchase.

i leave that situation, looking at my mom with a "please can we leave, I'm quite disturbed" look.

what i say know is not a sacrilegious statement:

why does a kind and loving God allow some people to reproduce?

anyway, we got out.

thank you lord...

pilgrimage to vegfest seattle '09

so today i went to vegfest '09 in seattle with olivia, her mom, and her good friends. [oh, and beth] it was a blast. i had quite a bit of fun.

**seattle is a unique city to say the least. it's almost a city only a mother could love, judging by the majority of its' residents. it's a friendly city though, mostly because everyone's either gay or in the sky with diamonds.**

anyway, back to vegfest...

we arrived at seattle center, and immediately began trying food. olivia, beth and i went on a "grand excursion."

we stopped at the wheat grass smoothie sampler. i forced olivia to try some. it was "okay."

i had almond milk (yum, yum), and an assortment of "cereal."

there was a kinda wet cereal with hemp (cheers!!) that olivia had "texture issues" with.

i tried so much hummus. oh.my.word...

i tried probably at least 4 different types of water, flavored and non-flavored.

i had vegan caviar. that's a story.......so beth, olivia, and i went up to the "caviar" place. olivia and beth tried the imitation salmon i believe, and i had the imitation sturgeon. i rather enjoyed it, and it gave me an idea of how real caviar tasted. i could kinda understand why people would enjoy it.

yet again, though, it gave olivia "texture issues."

we had fermented fizzy tea. beth said, "this tastes like wine!" [lol] it was pretty good.

tofu galore!

but there is one product that i loved so much!

TOBYS HEART HEALTHY SOY-TOFU DIP & SPREAD--MILD JALAPENO.

this was AMAZING! that's right, capital letters! that must mean that it's good...

after taking more than offered of the odwalla bars, and various organic potato chips, left the convention center and went to BAMBOO GARDENS! it was AMAZING! again, capital letters...

anyway, it was quite fun.

when a stranger calls...and leaves a message.

well during this christmas break, i have had a very great time. i've been able to spend time with my family and be able to do things with them. but when christmas day came, something very absurd happened to me, and i hope it'll serve as a lesson to you.

it's christmas. we've opened our presents and now our family is just lounging around, like many families do after opening presents. soon after, i received a call on my cell phone from an unfamiliar number. i was having "family time" so i didn't want to answer. well, the person leaves a message, and it went:

hey buddy, i hope you're having a merry christmas. i really wish i could see you...

that was the basic "plot" of the message. i ignore it, hoping that he had figured out afterward that he had called the wrong number.

dinner comes. it's around 5. we're all sitting down at the table like a happy family does on christmas, when my phone rang again--and it was the same time. frantically, i turn it off, without thinking, because i didn't want to be rude during a christmas dinner by answering my phone.

after dinner, i turned my phone back on, and i saw that he had left another message. the message went:

i hope i'm wrong, but i'm getting the feeling that you turned your phone off-- after you figured that it was me that was calling. i really would like to talk to my son, so what you're gonna cause me to do is come up there. and if that's what i have to do, then i will. and i know that you're not having a good time on christmas and neither am i, so i would like to talk to my son, and i know that he'd talk to me cause he ain't hiding from me, it's you. anyway, i hope i'm wrong. bye.

the whole day, i had been caught in the middle of a divorce battle! i was so embarassed. my mom listened to the message, and called him back. but let that be a lesson to you: ALWAYS ANSWER YOUR PHONE.
